Director
Keven
McAlester is an award-winning filmmaker and music video director. His first feature, YOU'RE GONNA MISS ME, details the troubled life of
rock legend Roky Erickson. Described by critics as "chilling," "brilliant," and
"otherworldly Southern gothic literature," the film received an Independent
Spirit Award nomination for best documentary and won a jury prize at AFI's
Silverdocs Festival.
His second feature, the DUNGEON MASTERS, explores the personal lives and psyches of three avid Dungeons & Dragons players; it also reunites him with
cinematographer Lee Daniel and boasts a haunting score by Blonde Redhead. The
film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, played at over a dozen international festivals, and is scheduled for release in
spring 2010. His other recent work includes directing "Seven Plus or Minus Two," a film installation commissioned by the Akademie der Künste, Berlin; and producing "The Fence," an HBO documentary that will premiere at Sundance 2010. His music videos have garnered various awards, year-end accolades, and festival screenings.
