Biography
Keven McAlester
Keven McAlester is an award-winning filmmaker and music video director. His first feature, YOU'RE GONNA MISS ME, details the troubled life of rock legend Roky Erickson. Described by critics as “chilling,” “brilliant,” and “otherworldly Southern gothic literature,” the film received an Independent Spirit Award nomination and won the jury prize at AFI's Silverdocs Festival.

His second feature, the DUNGEON MASTERS, follows three devoted Dungeon and Dragons players over the course of a year. The film, which continued his longtime collaboration with cinematographer Lee Daniel and boasts a haunting score by Blonde Redhead, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and was released in August 2010. He other recent work includes “Seven Plus or Minus Two,” a film installation commissioned by the Akademie der Künste, Berlin; and “The Fence,” an HBO film he produced. His music videos have earned various awards, year-end accolades, and festival screenings.
