After their epic video for Grizzly Bear, no one was surprised when
Björk approached Encyclopedia Pictura to create a video for her nearly 8-minute track, "Wanderlust".
EP constructed a narrative, which set Björk in a mythical mountain valley, escorted by a herd of yaks and a "pain body" back pack. On her way, she encounters a transcendental water god, rapids, and at the end, a water-fall.
Ghost Robot enlisted an army of fabricators and interns, who working out of Matthew Barney's studio in Long Island City, created everything from the sets, costumes, and prosthetics to a 7 foot tall Yak puppet and custom 3D camera rig.
The video premiered at an event at New York's
Deitch Projects and has continued to play in 3D at special screenings around the world.
"Wanderlust" won 3 Yellow Pencils at the 2009
D&AD Awards and 3
UKMVA Awards, including Best Music Video.
