A Long Overdue Update

It was a busy summer at Ghost Robot, and we spent a lot of time on the road, so to catch everyone up, here's a recap:

Adam and Joey both played with puppets and released new videos for Morningwood and Langhorne Slim, respectively.  Adam is now taking time to work on his feature ambitions, while Joey is finishing up a short film for Scion and The Daily Swarm and is premiering his new short "Ex-Bully" at the AFI Film Festival in LA.

Mark spent most of the summer bunking up with Encyclopedia Pictura in San Francisco and working on a sixty second spot for EA Games and W + K, Portland.  Besides being named as Directors' to Watch in the October issue of 'Boards, Isaiah also drew the cover!  It hits news stands this week.  Joey and Encyclopedia Pictura both received "Ones To Watch" honors in the latest issue of The Reel.

Tommy has been producing a series of events with Flux at the new Nike retail and event space in Hollywood, The Montalbàn.  Keven has returned from Toronto and is now working on a video installation for the Institute of Contemporary Art in Berlin.

Mark also had a killer party at Legion, in Brooklyn, recently.

Stay tuned for more news and work...a busy Robot is a happy Robot.

Elizabeth Reaser - The Ex List

We love Elizabeth Reaser over here at Ghost Robot. She's done some great films like SWEETLAND for which she received a Spirit nod, but most importantly she rocks it in our very own Against The Current.

You'll get a chance to see that film soon enough, but till then check her out in the Ex-List this fall on CBS.

Joey Gets Restless in Langhorne, PA

Earlier this summer, Joey, Mark, and a rag-tag crew headed into the woods outside Langhorne, PA with a camera, a wooden puppet, and Mark's poodle Lucy to shoot a video for Kemado Records' Langhorne Slim

Despite having to bail four crew members out of jail, Joey missing his flight back to Chicago, and a post process that seems to have taken forever, our woodman finally walks.  Joey, Mark, and Lucy also got cameos in the video.  Check it out on Joey's reel.

EP Named To Filmmakers 25 New Faces

Encyclopedia Pictura was tagged along with 24 other directors and creatives, as one of Filmmaker Magazines 25 New Faces Of Independent Film.

Filmmaker noted their quick rise in the music video world and their unique aesthetic choices as reasons they were included in the list.

For those of you who are wondering what EP will do next, Isaiah tells the mag: "We're starting to develop a feature and slowly developing another project in the world of video games and virtual reality. We've leaked only that it will be a creative tool for people to express complex emotions through visuals they create in a virtual or augmented reality. And the feature will be very entertaining. It will be in 3-D, will be as ambitious as we can muster, and it will be fun for little kids and old people."

Sundance Creative Producing Initiative

Ghost Robot partner, Joshua Zeman, is named as an inaugural fellow for Sundance Institute's Creative Producing Initiative for the project "Forest Grove."  "Forest Grove," written by Maya Churi, will be the first narrative feature by Jonathan Caouette (Tarnation).

Joey & EP Named Cannes New Directors

We were thrilled to find out that while we were sleeping this morning, Saatchi & Saatchi, London screened Joey Garfield's "Work It Out" and Encyclopedia Pictura's "Wanderlust" In 3D at their New Directors' Showcase at the Cannes Lions 2008, International Advertising Festival.

Read more about it on Boards (3D glasses are a beautiful thing) and Creativity. Encyclopedia Pictura also made Boards' "Cannes It List".

For the record, Ghost Robot and Nexus are the only production companies with two featured directors.  Also, Joey suggested the headline, "Cannes You Dig It", but it didn't make it to the press.
